Weekend behind - a new beginnig

A month ago I got some news that made it uncertain whether I could train for next season or not. That would mean, next season would be just one of getting back to shape. On Friday I got to know, that event won't take place now, and will be postponed until spring or autumn, or in best case not take place at all.

Heading for the news

I had motivational issues during October. During autumn, the days become shorter, the weather turns s*it, and I tend to react to that, quite heavily sometimes. This time uncertainty made it even worse. So the news on Friday, even though it still means I will probably have a break at some point, gave me a motivation boost in the middle of the darkness. Pain is only temporary, and I can continue a normal life soon.

So continue was what I did. I jumped on my bike and pedaled for a couple of hours at a good pace. It felt good, even though my Garmin Edge 810 told me I am not in shape, +10 bpm - 30W more or less. There's some work to do here.

I begun Saturday with a proper breakfast and headed out for a 2 h+ ride.

Porridge, coffee, croissant, banana... Proper energy

It was pretty cold, after 1 hour of riding the average temperature was 0.4 degrees..

Where the roads were wet, there was ice.

Brrr..

Grey and brown, late autumn colors

Fortunately I was well prepared for the chilly weather

A proper energy boost after the ride

You don't have to go to the cafe to get proper coffee ;)

In the evening we went out for a really nice dinner. Proper wine, really good food and great atmosphere, what more can you wish? :)

Salmon on a plate

On Sunday we took a run, after a 7 year long break. And that break I could feel. My legs were like jelly. Maybe I should stick to cycling... To get rid of the lactate I took a one hour trainer session. That pedaling was everything but smooth.

The setup (no I didn't remove the tail light, because I'm still heading out with my roadie)

The Office

Weekends pass by too fast, but fortunately Monday is almost over. This week will be a bit harder training-wise since I'm going on a business trip to Stockholm and will be away for 3 days. But there's a gym at the hotel, I might just check it out.

Until next time, take care and try to beat the darkness!
